Teaching Assistants mainly work with small groups of students to help them get the most from their education. You’ll need to be committed and enthusiastic and have the patience to work with children with a range of needs. From understanding safeguarding to supporting the development of children and young people, this course will give you a firm appreciation of developing and maintaining supportive relationships in the classroom.
Modules include Health & Safety, Basic First Aid for Children, Communication and Supporting Children’s & Young People’s Development.
You’ll develop a greater awareness of Autism, ADHD and Dyslexia, along with an understanding of Children with Special Educational Needs & Disabilities.
As a Teaching Assistant you’ll have the suppot of a committed team who work together to maintain high standards. You will form relationships with students and play a vital role in helping them to reach their full potential.

Key roles of a Teaching Assistant:
Support Teaching and Learning: Help students understand lessons, stay on task and complete work – often working 1-on-1 or with small groups.
Classroom Management: Assist in managing behaviour, preparing the classroom and supervising group activities.
Student Welfare: Support students’ social, emotional and physical well-being.
Lesson Support: Help teachers plan activities, adapting teaching to individual needs and prepare learning materials.
Administrative Tasks: Conduct admin tasks, keep records and ensure classroom equipment is tidy and safe for use.
Collaboration: Work with teachers, other professionals and parents to support students’ overall progress.
