POLICIES & PROCEDURES:
BLENDED & REMOTE LEARNING
POLICY STATEMENT:
Crosby Training has introduced remote and blended learning since April 2020 at the start of the Covid 19 National Lockdown.
This ensures that all learners are able to participate in meaningful learning both on and off site that supports them to achieve their goals when traditional learning is not possible.
Blended learning will be delivered when learners are unable to attend our centre in person for health or other personal safety reasons, or where national guidelines must be followed for personal safety reasons for example during Covid Lockdown.
DEFINITION OF BLENDED LEARNING:
Blended learning is the creation of an integrated learning environment where face-to-face and online teaching and learning become complementary giving learners a more diverse and engaging learning experience.
DEFINITION OF REMOTE LEARNING:
Remote learning is where the learner and the tutor are not physically present together in a traditional classroom environment. Information is relayed through technology, video conferencing and online assessments. Remote learning can occur simultaneously with real time peer-to-peer interaction and collaboration using Zoom or Teams, or with self-paced learning activities that take place independently of the tutor.
In order to provide effective blended and remote learning, Crosby Training aims to:
• Use E-kits E-learning materials for suitable Highfield qualifications.
• Complete City and Guilds employability training in line with qualification standards.
• Use the Skills Network learning platform to deliver TQUK qualifications.
• Ensure consistency of approach.
• Ensure staff are appropriately training and fully aware of the procedures to be followed.
• Deliver programmes that are equivalent to the length of onsite teaching programmes and mirror these as far as possible.
• Ensure the curriculum is well planned and provides a systematic approach to delivering knowledge and skills in a structured way with tutors providing frequent and clear explanations of content through a combination of live teaching, presentations and additional resources.
• Ensure learners working off site have meaningful and ambitious work for each of their timetabled sessions.
• Ensure appropriate contact with the course tutor either via live streaming, one to one video call or other chat facility so that learners do not feel isolated.
• Ensure all learners can access appropriate off site learning.
• Ensure learners can access learning using their personal log in and are aware of how to stay safe online.
• Continue to monitor Crosby Training’s network (the ‘Server’) for security purposes.
• Continue to ensure that learners working remotely have access to the Safeguarding Officers
• Provide access to the Internet and laptops as far as possible to learners who have limited access to online learning offsite.
• Provide appropriate learning support where required.
• Ensure that every learner has been allocated a specified member of staff to act as their support link.
• Ensure guidance and support on how to use and access remote learning tools and content is available for learners.
• Provide printed resources for learners who struggle to access work online.
• Monitor and review learner engagement and delivery methods and implement alternative ways of working when necessary.
WE FOLLOW AWARDING BODIES GUIDELINES:
Our blended /remote learning delivery is fully compliant with all of the guidelines set out by the awarding bodies. We ensure that assessment methodology is valid and reliable and does not disadvantage any group.

• Comply with any changes needed in the approach, requirements and assessments made as a result of pandemic lockdowns.
• Make sure that there are monitoring systems in place to check the authenticity and validity of learners’ work.
• Ensure that assignments are presented in a face-to-face setting wherever possible (including Zoom meetings) and deadlines are clear.
• Require learners to complete work and present it for assessment on time, as they would be expected to do in a classroom setting.
• Follow a process to manage feedback and make sure constructive feedback is provided in a regular, timely manner.
• Make sure all assessment and internal verification records are stored in accordance with the awarding bodies’ requirements.
